Maya Ramsay is an award winning artist. She has published an article on the subject of art and migrant deaths at sea - Reframing the Debate: the Art of Lampedusa (Crossings: Journal of Migration and Culture, 2016). Her current research focusses on the ethics of making art from the objects and belongings that may have belonged to migrants who died at sea.
Federica Mazzara is Senior Lecturer in Intercultural Communication at the University of Westminster. She is the author of Reframing Migration: Lampedusa, Borders Spectacle and Aesthetics of Subversion (Peter Lang, 2019). Her research revolves around migration in relation to cultural expression, with a focus on visual art.
